The Dries Carmeliet Fellowship

The Dries Carmeliet Fellowship is intended for graduate students pursuing projects at the intersection of design, innovation, and entrepreneurship in the MIT Department of Architecture. Dries believed deeply in the power of design, technology, and innovation to transform the built environment. He brought kindness, humility, and enthusiasm to everything he pursued.

He earned his Master of Science in Architecture Studies with a focus on Urbanism from MIT, and went on to co-found Acelab through the DesignX 2020 cohort, building it into a leading technology platform transforming how architects and designers discover and specify building products. His life was tragically cut short, but his legacy endures in the work he created and the countless people he inspired.

The Dries Carmeliet Fellows continue his legacy through their tireless commitment to shaping a better future through design, creativity, and entrepreneurship.
