SkinPixel

Skin Pixel is designing a real-time diagnostic “smart tattoo” for human skin to monitor levels of blood analytes like glucose, sodium, potassium, albumin, and others such as those found on a basic blood panel. Using genetic engineering, their technology allows existing human skin cells to monitor blood analytes and change color proportionate to the levels of each analyte currently in the blood. Through this, Skin Pixel will allow for continuous physiological monitoring without requiring phlebotomy appointments and the associated lifestyle disruptions that disincentive patient compliance or the purchase and disposal of hazardous medical waste.
